ITTERS 2001

June - July 2001: Venice, Ravenna, Florence, Siena & Rome

Me, James, Claire, Philip, Jen, Bel

Aah, Italia. After finishing our first year, what better way to broaden our minds than to go on a latter-day Grand Tour?! The art was pretty good, the vino rosso delectable.

Probably the best van in the world. Also of note is the arched building on the left which actually contains Bologna's McDonald's! From the top of one of Bologna's wonky towers looking down on the other one.

The view over Bog-nog, as James affectionately called it. Jen and Bel are slightly perturbed by the spurting breasts of the Bolognese statues ...
James wanders through the tranquil cloisters of Ravenna. Er, nice.
The never-to-be-forgotten line: "I take picture of crazy Italian guys - YOU!" Picnicking in the Ravenna heat.
Bologna's park was an experience, complete with drug dealers, disturbed people in fountains and humungous, slavering dogs. We decided to have lunch there.  A photo of James taking a photo in Ravenna.
James interacts with the antiquities. The gang alongside one of Ravenna's many very old buildings.
A big tower in Ravenna. Very nice. Not leaning though, is it? Poor show. James's web.
Another fine Webbe demonstration of how not to eat pizza. Florence's duomo towers over Philip.
"Oh, I so wanted to see the Arno!" The Ponte Vecchio
Why didn't I think of that as a summer job? Dress up as an Old Master, prat about a bit and then get paid by American tourists. Brilliant! Another stop for il caffé. So worth it.
James aspires. The greatest restaurant in Florence. Plastic tablecloths, an OAP waitress with bread in one hand and a fag in the other. But the food, oh, the food!
The gang were disconcerted when I suddenly turned into half a watermelon. Philip's hat bobs above the crowds in Siena, the Campo and Palazzo Publico before him.
