THE COSTS INVOLVED ...

How much money do I need to raise?

The target for my Peru Appeal is £1100. This will cover the placement fee that I pay to i-to-i. The organisation describes how they spend this money as follows:

"Researching and developing safe and worthwhile projects for all our volunteers, maintaining constant contact with all our members, and marketing our projects so they can recruit the best volunteers.

It also covers your insurance, training, food / accommodation and language lessons where applicable*, office overheads, and staff expenses for the team at the head office and in-country where we co-ordinate your placement.

Your placement fee covers the cost of arranging this whole experience for you and our other volunteers - which allows us all to help our partner projects."

* This does apply to me, for the initial orientation stage of the project only.

The complete breakdown of my costs for this project is as follows:

Placement fee - £1095

Flights - £500+ (to be covered personally)

Accommodation / food during placement - £250-ish (to be covered personally)

Additional costs may include some expense incurred in promoting my fundraising activities. Again, I will cover this personally.

In the event of exceeding my target amount - which would be beyond my wildest dreams! - I will spend extra cash on resources for the Lima Orphanage and donate the rest to i-to-i's Helping Hand Foundation (registered charity 1099482). This provides financial support directly to the most disadvantaged of i-to-i's partner projects, all over the world (see their comprehensive website for details of all the projects they support).

So how am I raising the money? >>>
